Friday, 16 August Day 5

The work week has flown by for us!  Our initial work project changed from patching a hole in a wall to paneling Inez's bedroom.  This included priming and painting two of her ceilings and placing wood trim around her bedroom. There was a squeaky noise in her bedroom floor, so we were able to place a support beam under her floor to stop the squeak.

As we spoke with Inez throughout the week, we hinted around about what she could use to make her life easier.  She related that she would like to have a source of heat in her kitchen.  Some of the money provided by Grace's "Shaking of the Cans" was used to provide Inez with a new mattress pad cover, sheets, pillowcases, two pillows, a space heater, smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector for her coal stove usage, and work gloves for her to use in her garden and $50.00 gift card to purchase window blinds.  It was at this time that things got emotional, as Cindy gave Inez a hug.

Prior to leaving the house, we prayed with Inez in her spruced up bedroom.  It was stressed that we are all God's children.  The theme of our mission trip, which was displayed on our t-shirts, was "Sharing God's Love, Making People Smile."  We want you to know that we were able to accomplish this! Thank you for all of your prayers and financial assistance to/for us!

Please remember us in your prayers tonight for our safe return home tomorrow, and we look forward to seeing you in Church!

Thursday, 15 August Day 4

Today brought on more paneling installation, painting of two ceilings, polyurethane trim and a few pieces of trim installed. We added some stone to her path from her steps to the road. Cindy worked in the office today putting the Settlements newsletter together.

Joe and John were doing some painting today.

Charlie putting hammering in the trim nails into the paneling. The old oak boards in the walls make driving in the nails very difficult.

Wednesday, August 14 Day 3

Today the whole team worked a half day at Inez's house. We helped load extra material from other projects that where completed on a truck to take back to Henderson. Put some more paneling up, sanded drywall joints and fixed a electrical outlet. In the afternoon we took a tour of the Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY and then went to Walmart to pick up a few things then on to Pine Mountain State Resort Park for supper. Tomorrow the team has the morning devotion before breakfast.
